1st January – New Year’s Day 

  • Marks the beginning of the calendar year and is celebrated with festivities across the country. 

6th January – Epiphany 

  • Commemorates the visit of the three wise men to the infant Jesus. It is a religious holiday observed with various traditions. 

Easter Sunday and Easter Monday 

  • These are the most significant holidays for Christians, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter is marked by various religious ceremonies and family gatherings. 

Whit Sunday (Pentecost) 

  • Celebrated seven weeks after Easter, this day marks the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles of Jesus. 

1st May – Labour Day 

  • A national holiday celebrating the achievements of workers, with its origins in the international labor movement. 

3rd May – Constitution Day 

  • Commemorates the enactment of the Polish Constitution on 3rd May 1791, the first democratic constitution in Europe and the second in the world. 

Corpus Christi 

  • Observed on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday, this religious feast is often marked by public processions in many Polish cities and towns. 

15th August – Assumption of Mary & Polish Armed Forces Day 

  • A combined religious and national holiday. It honors the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and commemorates the 1920 Battle of Warsaw with military parades, particularly in Warsaw. 

1st November – All Saints’ Day 

  • A solemn day when people visit cemeteries to pay respects and remember their deceased loved ones by lighting candles on graves. 

11th November – Independence Day 

  • Celebrates Poland’s regaining of independence in 1918, after 123 years of partitions by Austria, Russia, and Prussia. The day features national celebrations and parades. 

25th & 26th December – Christmas 

  • These days celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and are marked by religious services, festive meals, and time spent with family.
